Responsibilities

What You\'ll Do Understand and manage system and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of defined system architecture(s) compatible with production systems (DoDAF, SOA, etc.). Develop and upkeep sections of system engineering documentation such as system engineering plans, initial capabilities documents, requirement specifications and interface control documents. Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria in a written plan. Assist and provide technical direction with the development of system and functional requirements while developing system design solutions that satisfy requirements and stakeholder needs; plan verification efforts of new and unproven designs early to ensure compliance. Coordinate procedures among multiple teams to design new capabilities based on evaluation of development and operational considerations; generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions while covering all interfaces. Allocate process and error budgets to systems and subsystem components and coordinate action items for meetings/review boards to present resolutions. Review and provide input into program and contract work breakdown structure (WBS), packages and the integrated master plan (IMP). Establish and coordinate the approval process for the definition of a system or component under development (requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures) to provide a common reference point for HW and SW developers. Implement operational, technical and system views for architectures using DoDAF standards and comprehensive SOA solutions. Review and/or approve system engineering documentation to ensure process and specifications meet requirements; assess risk to determine probability and consequence of failure. Capture interface designs in a common interface control format and store data in an accessible repository. Establish processes to control, manage, and track changes to requirements and actions, ensuring technical integrity of the system baseline over time; develop alternative actions for each risk. Support planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process. Support development and review of Joint Capability Integration Development System (JCIDS) documents. Provide technical direction for development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all HW/SW components. Ensure effective periodic review and control of evolving system configurations; develop design alternatives considering life cycle cost, reuse, risk, expansion, and growth. Maintain knowledge of current and evolving standards applicable to system development and apply/use suitable standards. Contribute to Analyses of Alternatives (AoA) to recommend preferred solutions based on criteria, including reasonableness, technology limits, environmental impact, and life-cycle costs. Fully define interfaces and improve standard integration strategies; participate as a member of the Change Control Board (CCB).
