Overview
Project Engineer - SCADA. The Energy team provides infrastructure solutions for power delivery and renewable energy, offering planning and design for low- to high-voltage facilities. The team focuses on safe, reliable, and affordable electricity across power generation, renewables, and transportation electrification, addressing technical, financial, environmental, and political needs of clients. The position supports technical SCADA design and execution for renewable energy and power delivery projects throughout the Midwest and western United States. As an Electrical Engineer in DEA’s Energy Business Unit, you will develop designs for all supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) aspects, create control schematics, logic diagrams, wiring drawings, and develop settings for SCADA equipment. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and there are growth opportunities for professional advancement, leadership, and increased responsibility. The role is hybrid-friendly with a preference for candidates near DEA offices in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington. Fully remote may be considered; some travel may be required. Key Responsibilities
Exemplify DEA’s Cultural Drivers internally and externally. Conceptual and detailed development of substation SCADA design. Develop SCADA systems for renewable energy and utility clients. Prepare points list of data to be transferred between control centers and controlled apparatus. Assign and program data addressing and routing information. Construction and commissioning start-up support. Develop and configure SCADA system settings and parameters. Provide technical mentoring to project team members and support calculations required for design. Offer office support during project construction, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and commissioning troubleshooting. Promote effective team working relationships and maintain technical quality of work. What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Four (4) or more years of applicable industry experience. Registered Professional Engineer. Familiar with substation and power system integration. Familiar with SEL RTAC and SEL/GE protective relaying communication needs. Familiar with DNP/Modbus and other protocols. Proficient with HMI and SCADA software. Preferred Qualifications
Seven (7) or more years of applicable industry experience. Highly proficient with HMI and SCADA software. Experience in CAISO and ERCOT areas. Experience working with contractors in EPC delivery format through project commissioning. Experience delivering professional services for renewable energy owners or developers. What We Offer
