Overview

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is currently looking for a Project Architect to join our Community Environments Market team in New York, NY. You will be working in our Community Environments (CE) Market, where you’ll have the opportunity to design and deliver healthy, thriving mixed-use communities. The Project Architect will function as the technical lead on individual projects and oversee the production of all contract deliverables. They often lead the QA/QC process and provide guidance and technical expertise throughout all project phases. This role coordinates with Senior Architects on complex technical solutions and studio or market-wide technical standards. Staff may contribute to the production of construction documents as needed based on scope and complexity.

Responsibilities

Lead the production and coordination of contract deliverables including field surveys, design drawings, construction documents, exhibits, and specifications. May contribute to deliverables for multiple teams.

Oversee integration of design-generated deliverables into contract documentation and specifications, maintaining design intent through all phases.

Generate code research and feasibility studies with coordination from AHJ representatives; schedule and lead pre-submittal or design review meetings as needed.

Contribute to project reporting during design and construction (design logs, risks and issue reports, permit trackers, RFI/submittal logs, and project financial reports).

Ensure adherence to firm-wide documentation standards and templates; provide guidance on design standards as required.

Oversee the generation of accurate project specifications aligned with scope, design intent, and contractual deliverables.

Oversee the QA/QC process for all project documentation, including consultant deliverables, and engage with project teams to discuss comments and ensure integration.

Provide guidance and support for coordination of external submittals to local permitting authorities (AHJs) and site-specific submittal processes.

Provide technical support during permitting, including responses to formal comments and resubmittals, and coordination with local building departments/AHJs on code interpretations.

Participate in production and coordination of deliverables during construction administration, including site visits, field reports, and primary review of submittals and RFIs.

Manage internal and external resources related to technical execution to ensure quality and project profitability.

Assist in the review of project billings and overall financial management related to contract documents.

Produce accurate and timely work in accordance with the project schedule, understanding contractual obligations, design intent, and budget.

Conduct monthly 1:1 check-ins with internal team members (People Managers Only) and perform mid-year and year-end performance reviews (People Managers Only).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or a related field.

8+ years of experience in a professional architecture or design firm.

Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Demonstrated expertise using collaboration software such as Bluebeam, Miro, and Teams.

Comprehensive understanding of architectural design and documentation, including code compliance, accessibility, and constructability.

Ability to interpret and apply building and zoning codes for various project types, scales, and complexities.

Experience in construction administration, including RFI/submittal reviews, field reports, and close-out procedures.

Strong English reading, writing, and comprehension for job-related communications.

Compensation Compensation: $67,000 to $124,000 (depending on qualifications)
