Bonita Valley Baptist Church (Bonita, CA) is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor to lead our congregation in spiritual growth and service. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, excellent communication, and a deep commitment to teaching the Bible as written. We are a vibrant, diverse, and healthy community of faith, committed to serving God and loving our neighbors. BVBC Mission Statement:
We envision teaching believers, through the Bible, how to love God and love their neighbors (Col 1:28, Matt 22:37-40). We strive for life transformation through dynamic preaching, practical teaching of Scripture, and discipling relationships, so people become more like Christ. We welcome newcomers with warmth and grace and seek to engage all ages in ministries that equip believers for ministry and service. Prayer is vital and interwoven in all settings. We envision reaching Bonita and nearby communities with the Good News that Jesus saves and transforms lives. Qualifications
A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ. Consistent spiritual and moral character, fulfilling the biblical leadership qualifications of an elder described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Agreement with the Constitution and By-Laws of BVBC. Desire to seek the Lord for personal direction and vision for the church. Consistent daily devotional habit of Bible study and prayer. Proficiency in biblical preaching and teaching. Properly ordained and educated in biblical, theological, and pastoral studies. Ministry experience demonstrating growth of spiritual health in the Body of Christ. Proficiency in communication, organizational leadership, administration, and interpersonal relationships. Desire to remain in long-term ministry at BVBC. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure. At least an MDiv from an accredited theological institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Responsibilities
Take primary responsibility for teaching and sustaining biblical doctrines and equipping God’s people for ministry. Pastoral duties: Preach regularly as the primary preacher; share in public worship leadership; administer Communion and Believer’s Baptism; officate Biblical marriages; provide pastoral care; recruit and train disciplers; guard doctrinal integrity. Leadership duties: Provide overall vision and leadership; collaborate with the Elders; develop ministry objectives; develop leaders; participate in community group ministry. Management duties: Supervise office staff. Outside church duties: Represent the church in the community; participate in broader ministry; interact with other pastors and local leaders. Accountability
Accountable to the Elder Board. Develop and maintain private accountability relationships. Annual performance review by the Elder Board in accordance with the position description. Adhere to the Constitution and personnel handbook. Other Criteria
Senior Pastor experience or potential. Male. Age 40+. Marital status: Prefer Married. Open to all ethnicities and cultures. Open to physical disabilities as long as duties can be performed. The Compensation
