Overview
Microbiology & Immunology/HCI Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor at University of Utah. This division invites applications for a new tenure-track faculty position at any level that focuses on the intersection of Cancer and Microbiota. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, host-commensal interactions (bacterial, viral and fungal) as they pertain to any cancer type, microbiota-immune interactions in cancer, commensal bacterial/fungal genetics in cancer, dietary interactions with the microbiota involved in cancer prevention/development, microbial metagenomics, metabolism or ecology in cancer settings. The role of microbes in influencing/regulating cancer therapies/immunotherapies is also of interest. Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD, PhD, or DVM. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will have a track-record of publications and funding consistent with rank and will be expected to establish a rigorous, independent and collaborative research program within the microbiota and cancer field that complements both HCI and M&I division goals. Responsibilities
Establish and lead a research program in microbiota and cancer; contribute to teaching and service within M&I and HCI; collaborate across departments to advance inter-disciplinary science in the microbiota and cancer field. About The Department, HCI And University Of Utah
Successful applicants would have an academic appointment in the Division of M&I and be a member of HCI. The division includes multiple recipients of NIH Director\'s New Innovator Awards, Pew Scholars, Burroughs Wellcome Awards, American Cancer Society awards and other investigator awards. Huntsman Cancer Institute is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and a member of the NCCN. The Cancer Biostatistics Shared Resource provides biostatistics and research design support to investigators at Huntsman Cancer Institute. The center focuses on microbiota and mucosal immunology with infrastructure for gnotobiotic experiments, microbiota analysis, metabolomics, and human sample acquisition to support basic and translational discoveries. The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, a city near the Wasatch Mountain Range with opportunities for both urban and outdoor activities, and proximity to ARUP National Reference Laboratory.
