Overview The Senior AV Technician is a member of the Georgetown University Law Center’s Information Systems Technology Audiovisual and Instructional Technology groups. This position oversees the technical operation and maintenance of all audiovisual systems supported by the department at the Law Center. This includes classrooms, event spaces and conference rooms in addition to other supported spaces during the evening shift. The position also oversees the exploration, research, purchase, inventory, installation and integration of equipment and services in department supported facilities.

Responsibilities

Oversee the technical operation and maintenance of all audiovisual systems supported by the department at the Law Center, including classrooms, event spaces and conference rooms, during the evening shift and other times as needed.

Oversee the exploration, research, purchase, inventory, installation and integration of equipment and services in department supported facilities.

Maintain expert knowledge of operation and maintenance of a wide variety of audiovisual systems including lecture capture software, digital and analog audiovisual interfaces, video conferencing hardware/software, and television production equipment.

Manage both small and large AV projects.

Work Interactions The Senior AV Technician reports to the Director of Audio Visual of Instructional Technology and engages with senior administrators, staff, faculty, students and vendors. The Senior AV Technician will need to possess superior communication skills as they may interact with nationally and internationally recognized VIP guests, high level University administration and alumni as well as national and local press in addition to everyday interaction with faculty, staff and students.

Requirements And Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or seven years of audiovisual experience, preferably in an educational, conference center, and/or hotel environment

Ability to multitask, often working under stress to complete tasks that require complex set-up and operation

Professional understanding of the following AV technologies: Digital switchers, digital audiovisual systems and computer interfaces, video capturing software, Zoom and other video conferencing systems, digital video and audio editing software, light boards, cloud storage such as Google Apps and Box; generally Mac and PC proficient

Understanding of networked audiovisual systems

Proficiency in Google productivity tools, including Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive

Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 productivity tools, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Proficiency in room control systems, including Crestron and Extron systems

Maintain an excellent level of customer service with faculty, staff, students, and guests

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and working from ladders and scaffolding

Must be willing to accept flexible hours and overtime

Work Hours and Schedule The position’s work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am–4:00 pm; however, must remain flexible throughout the week based on staffing needs. The incumbent must be willing to work overtime, evenings, and weekends if needed.

Pay Range The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
