As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys — all from home. Compensation and logistics Base contract rates start at $18/hour and increase for specialized subjects. You can earn up to $40/hour with long-term sessions with the same student. Paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice. Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like. Tutor remotely using our Live Learning Platform—no commuting required. Get matched with students who fit your teaching style and expertise. AI-powered Tutor Copilot provides real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features to save prep time and enhance teaching. We handle logistics — you invoice for sessions and we manage payments. What we look for in a tutor Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Expertise in Linguistics and the ability to explain concepts clearly. Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles. Priority given to those with tutoring or teaching experience and graduate-level education. Ways to connect with students 1-on-1 Online Tutoring – Provide personalized instruction to individual students. Instant Tutoring – Accept on-demand tutoring requests when you’re available.
