Environmental Science & Engineering The postdoctoral researcher will join the research group of Professor Fiamma Straneo to investigate connections between ice/ocean interactions, freshwater export from Greenland's glacial fjords, and the oceanography of the Southwest Greenland shelf as part of the Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program (OSNAP). The role involves working with a variety of data (moored, vessel-based, and remotely-sensed) and collaborating with Prof. F. Straneo and her team. Engagement in the planning and execution of fieldwork, and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students, is also expected. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility for renewal of a second year dependent on performance and availability of funds. Responsibilities
Investigate ice/ocean interactions, freshwater export from Greenland's glacial fjords, and the oceanography of the Southwest Greenland shelf as part of OSNAP. Work with hydrographic, velocity, and other oceanographic data; programming in Matlab or Python. Engage in planning and execution of fieldwork. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as part of the research team. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or a related field by the time of appointment. Experience analyzing hydrographic, velocity, and other oceanographic data; programming in Matlab or Python; and expertise in collecting field observations. Strong oral and written communication skills. Special Instructions
