Henry Ford Health and Michigan State University (MSU) have joined forces as Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences (Henry Ford + MSU) in a joint venture to transform health. The partnership combines MSU’s research capabilities with Henry Ford Health’s academic health system to advance cancer research and clinical impact. Generous start-up packages and cutting-edge resources will be provided to ensure the success of selected candidates. Position Summary
Presently, Henry Ford + MSU is seeking up to 10 exceptional
CANCER
researchers with a record of innovation and high-impact research. The team will collaborate closely with scientists and clinicians across MSU and Henry Ford Health on the Detroit campus. Ideal candidates are highly productive, mission driven, and research intensive, with a strong desire for science to have timely clinical and/or community impact. Successful candidates will thrive in a team-oriented culture where disciplines converge to advance cancer biology, accelerate the development of novel interventions, and improve cancer survivorship. Applicants must have a PhD, MD, DO, DVM, ScD, or equivalent. Associate and full Professor level candidates should have an outstanding record of research accomplishments, including sustained extramural funding and high-impact publications. Assistant Professor level candidates should have a career-path trajectory consistent with securing extramural funding as independent investigators. All candidates are expected to maintain robust extramural funding with federal funding as a cornerstone, and to be actively engaged in unifying and elevating the Henry Ford + MSU partnership. While all extraordinary candidates will be considered, preferred expertise includes:
cancer biology, bioinformatics ,
immunology, precision medicine,
radiobiology ,
epidemiology , and
clinical trials . Applications focused on pancreas, brain, lung, breast, ovarian, prostate, and hematological cancers are especially encouraged. Clinician scientists with a strong record of peer-reviewed funding are welcomed. Positions are jointly funded; candidates may be hired by Henry Ford Health or MSU with a secondary, no-pay appointment at the other institution. The primary academic appointment will be based on discipline, research, and interests. We are hiring at the ranks of assistant, associate, and senior scientist at Henry Ford Health and associate and full professor (tenure system) at MSU. Clinical appointments are available for clinician scientists. All positions are for the Detroit campus. Space, start-up packages, salary, and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience and rank. Required Degree and Minimum Requirements
Required Degree Doctorate degree Minimum Requirement PhD, MD, DO, DVM, ScD, DNP or equivalent in biomedical science or related field. Track record of significant contributions to cancer or cancer-adjacent fields. Potential/ability to establish a sustainable and internationally recognized research program. Evidence of ability to be an effective mentor to students, post-docs, and colleagues. Ability to collaborate across disciplines and institutions. Interest in/evidence of institutional and professional service. Desired Qualifications
Additional research experience beyond the doctorate, through post-doctoral, industry, or faculty positions. Strong record of research accomplishments, including sustained extramural grant funding and high-quality, peer-reviewed publications in a cancer or cancer-adjacent field.
