Position Overview FEDERAL WORK STUDY – AUTO TECHNICIAN PROGRAMMING OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, comprises seven colleges and five satellite sites, serving over 70,000 students annually. The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) provides subsidized part-time employment for eligible students to support their educational expenses. CCC complies with the Department of Education’s regulations regarding the FWS program, offering students valuable work experience.
Primary Objective The FWS program aims to help students gain practical experience in their fields by placing them in relevant departments and areas aligned with their studies. Wages earned can be used for educational and living expenses. Positions are available in academic departments, labs, libraries, administrative offices, student centers, and off-campus locations.
Essential Duties
Support various projects and assignments as needed.
Adhere to City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards.
Assist in EV classrooms and labs, attending to faculty and student needs, reporting concerns to administration.
Assist students with basic computer access, MS Office, and related programs.
Help students log into computers, print homework, and reset passwords.
Ensure all lab entrants log into the system.
Maintain orderliness of lab items.
Qualifications Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be 18 or older, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the U.S.
Must be actively attending a City College of Chicago institution.
Enrolled in at least 6 semester hours of classes.
Pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA (waived for first-semester students).
In good academic standing with no restrictions.
Not currently employed full or part-time by CCC.
Positions are at-will employment.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or actively pursuing a GED.
Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.
Ability to promote a positive image as a CCC representative.
Strong verbal communication and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Experience with desktops, laptops, and iPads.
Rate: $17.00/hour
