The Salvation Army offers a benefit package to part-time employees, including: Generous paid time off every year, including holidays, vacation time, and sick time Employer-funded Pension Plan (company contributions begin after 1 year of employment and consistently working 20+ hours/week) Eligibility for supplemental insurance plans, including Voluntary Term Life & AD&D benefits and AFLAC Insurance A job with a good purpose Location : Boston South End Pay Range : $20 per hour, 28.5 hours per week Prepare and serve various and large quantities of food for different programs, including kids programs, seniors programs, community breakfast, etc. Qualifications Education Requirements : Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts, required Work Experience : 2-5 years of experience in meal preparation for various size groups (25-500) Other Qualifications Must be ServSafe certified Must be able to plan, prepare, and serve a large variety of food Must have knowledge and ability to use and maintain kitchen equipment Must be able to communicate effectively in English (bi-lingual preferred) Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs Must have excellent customer service skills Duties And Responsibilities Prepare daily meals according to planned menus within state/federal guidelines Maintain, clean, and keep the kitchen orderly in accordance with Department of Health regulations Work and meet regularly with program leaders (re: menu planning, food service, and personnel issues) Foster a cooperative atmosphere in the kitchen, working with staff, volunteers, and guests assisting with preparation and cleanup responsibilities Monitor purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to meet guidelines set for quality and pricing Attend staff meetings as requested Ensure all staff (volunteers, other staff, etc.) are properly and accurately trained in the safe use of all equipment, if needed Ensure all equipment is inspected on a weekly basis, ensure timely repair of all equipment, submit work orders and service calls as necessary, and ensure facility repair work is completed in a timely manner Ensure an adequate reserve of program supply; if items are missing, report immediately to supervisor Report all injuries in a timely manner and according to procedure Assist with recycling and trash removal May be required to work weekends Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
