The Department of Psychology at Tulane University announces a tenure-track position at the beginning Assistant Professor level in developmental science, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. We seek candidates with a strong research orientation and potential to develop a nationally visible, extramurally supported research program. We are especially interested in scholars conducting basic research in developmental science focusing on mechanisms of change over time, including those studying infants, children, and/or adolescents across all subfields such as developmental cognitive neuroscience and developmental affective neuroscience. Research Interests and Methodologies
Applicants whose research can complement our faculty's strengths in cognitive and social development (e.g., attention, emotion, identity development, learning/memory, social reasoning, stress/vulnerability, resilience) will be prioritized. Experience with diverse and cutting-edge methodologies, especially related to data science initiatives at Tulane, will also be valued. The university offers resources such as shared fNIRS equipment and a new 3T MRI scanner facility with mock scanner and child-friendly environment. Collaborations and Interdisciplinary Opportunities
Tulane supports cross-disciplinary research, with potential collaborations across departments and participation in programs like the Tulane Brain Institute, Africana Studies, and the Violence Prevention Institute. Ability to interface across university departments is a plus. Teaching and Mentoring
The successful candidate will mentor PhD students and teach courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels within the Department of Psychology, which includes areas like Brain, Cognition and Developmental Sciences, Social Psychology, and School Psychology.
