About U.S. Electrical Testing
Specializing in electrical acceptance testing, maintenance, and commissioning services, we serve mission-critical facilities, secure environments, commercial and industrial clients, and electrical contractors. Our capabilities include emergency response, engineering services, and turn-key installation and repair.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers, both in the field and in a shop environment. An understanding of electrical distribution systems and the use of electrical test equipment is required. You will contribute to a safe working environment and the overall success of projects. The position is primarily based at the Blue Plains facility in Washington DC, with some local travel expected.
Responsibilities
Perform substation inspections in accordance with applicable compliance regulations.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
Troubleshoot and test electrical equipment, circuit breakers, and systems following established procedures.
Operate electrical power distribution systems up to and including 69 KV.
Take infrared images to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
Maintain testing, repair, and installation tools and equipment.
Install complex electrical and electronic systems up to 69KV voltage.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) for electrical hazards.
Coordinate Lock-Out-Tag-Out, Arc Flash, and confined space entry protocols.
Perform maintenance tasks within mixed craft/trade assignments.
Maintain electrical equipment and systems housekeeping.
Use MAXIMO CMMS to review and document work.
Perform safe switching and grounding of components.
Follow safety rules and regulations including OSHA, NFPA, and NEC.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED with 7+ years of experience OR an associate's degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
Must obtain or hold current NETA, AVO, NICET, or equivalent certification in substation testing within 12 months of hire.
Valid Motor Vehicle Operating License.
Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and test equipment.
Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, OSHA regulations.
Good communication skills and proficiency with office software and industry applications.
