Overview
The Electrical Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety programs specific to electrical operations and environments. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC) and promotes a safety-first culture across all electrical job sites and facilities. Responsibilities
Electrical Safety Oversight:
Enforce compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, NFPA 70E, NEC, and other electrical safety standards. Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site safety audits with a focus on electrical hazards. Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for energized and de-energized work. Supervise Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and arc flash safety measures. Training & Education:
Develop and deliver electrical safety training for field personnel, supervisors, and subcontractors. Maintain certification records and ensure all staff are trained in current electrical safety practices. Investigate electrical incidents, near-misses, and safety violations. Lead root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions. Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and interpret relevant safety regulations affecting electrical operations. Prepare for and support internal and external inspections, including OSHA visits. Program Development & Documentation:
Develop and update electrical safety policies and procedures. Maintain documentation on safety inspections, audits, training, and incident reports. Partner with project managers, foremen, and electricians to ensure safe work planning. Act as the point of contact for all electrical safety-related matters. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred). Equivalent experience considered. Experience:
5+ years of experience in electrical safety or related safety management roles. Experience in industrial, commercial, utility, or high-voltage environments preferred. Certifications:
OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry (required); CESCP Certification (Preferred); NFPA 70E Training Certification (required); CSP, CHST, or CUSP certification (preferred). Required Skills Deep understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and best practices. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies. Pay range and compensation
