The Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology, Inpatient provider, will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team within the UT Southwestern Pediatric Cardiology division at Children’s Health in Dallas to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients on the inpatient cardiology unit. These patients present with a wide variety of congenital and acquired heart disease. The position requires high-level critical thinking and clinical expertise in working with pediatric patients in the inpatient acute care cardiology setting. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, consultation, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and their families. Responsibilities

Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis. Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results. Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills appropriate to the specialty and training. Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures. Facilitates and participates in quality-related initiatives to improve clinical and system practice performance. Collaborates in research projects and protocols; routinely applies evidence-based best practices to patient care. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education Master’s degree or higher in nursing with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program, or Graduate of a Master’s degree or higher ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program. Licenses/Certifications Lor licensure as a Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (CPNP-AC) by the Texas State Board of Nursing with prescriptive authority OR Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensure by the Texas PA Board (PA-C); and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification as per UT Southwestern policy. Preferred Experience One year of pediatric cardiology inpatient experience with heart failure, pre- and post-heart transplant, and ventricular assist devices preferred. Experience with peripheral intravenous lines, chest tube removal, pacing wires, sutures, and arterial blood gas draws preferred. New graduates with prior pediatric cardiac or ICU experience may be considered. Job Duties
