Major Responsibilities
Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
Teach all scheduled classes.
Maintain accurate records.
Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Courses Associated with Subject Area
Cosmetology; Esthetics; Nail Technician; Barber Cross-over.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
The equivalent;
Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
Desired Qualifications
License in Cosmetology OR Esthetics Equivalency
Licenses
California Community College Instructor Credential in Cosmetology & Barbering (valid for life)
Foreign Degree Foreign Degree: Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC. A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your online application.
Credentials Licenses/Certificates/Credentials: California Community College Instructor Credential in Cosmetology & Barbering (valid for life)

Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (certificate must be renewed every 4 years).
Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan at the district's expense (clearance must be received prior to first day of employment).
Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
