Process & Formulation Scientist
who will join our team. We are seeking a creative and motivated Process & Formulation Scientist or Engineer to join the Research & Development Innovation Team. This role focuses on the design, development and characterization of novel products and formulations for the consumer lawn and garden category. The Scientist/Engineer will align technologies with consumer and business needs, work cross-functionally with the innovation team and business unit partners to advance technologies to the next phase of development. We are focused on three major categories: stewardship (including novel biodegradable polymers and films, sustainable and renewable materials); integrated technology (smart devices and controllers); and novel chemistries (more effective, efficient and safe active ingredients and co-formulants).
In this role you will:
Identify new technologies and opportunities that meet company objectives and support development, refinement and scale-up to commercial launch, including adhering to state and federal regulation requirements (OMRI, OIM and FIFRA).
Document, analyze and report data to cross-functional teams, peers, and leadership, making recommendations on path forward to multiple business units.
Collaborate with the innovation team, subject matter experts and business unit partners to ensure alignment on project goals and maximize efficient use of resources versus milestones and commercialization schedules.
Provide technical support and advice to cross-functional partners for new and current products and technologies.
Coach and develop the technical skills of peer or junior associates and assist with identifying career development opportunities and succession planning.
What you'll need to be successful
Master's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical), Chemistry, or related scientific field (other fields considered).
2–4 years of experience preferred.
Experience level may vary based on highest level of education completed (example: Bachelor's with 4–7 years, Master's with 2–4 years, PhD with 0–2 years).
Skills

Networking skills; excellent written and oral communication; adaptability and flexibility to work independently or in a team.

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $77,200.00 - $90,800.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay, including skills, qualifications, experience and geographical location. In addition to the base salary, this role is incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs. For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state-required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
