Lone Star College-Montgomery Lone Star College offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education to 80,000+ students each semester. LSC has been named a 2023 Great Colleges to Work For institution by the Chronicle of Higher Education. LSC consists of eight colleges, seven centers, eight Workforce Centers of Excellence and Lone Star Corporate College. Lone Star College-Montgomery serves The Woodlands and Conroe communities, providing a learning atmosphere and programs such as radiologic technology, physical therapy, and biotechnology. Purpose and Scope
Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis. Hiring is contingent upon student demand. Classes are offered day, evening, and weekend at various times and locations. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.
Essential Job Functions
Teaches Art courses at a variety of times and locations Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines Meets with and advises students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods Evaluates students to measure progress and informs students of their progress in a timely manner Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Mastery of course content Demonstrated leadership skills; collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints; ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology Ability to engage students with effective strategies
Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. May involve sitting, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Equipment includes PC workstation, calculator, phone and general office equipment, and discipline-specific equipment Interface with internal and external contacts as needed Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab with minimal safety hazards Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available outside instruction
Required Qualifications
MA or MFA in Art or Studio Art OR Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in studio art
Salary
$55.44 per contact hour.
