We’re looking for a driven Catering Manager to join our team at the beautiful Residence Inn Tierra Verde, home to the island’s premier rooftop venue, Vista at the Top. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives on building relationships, driving group sales, and ensuring seamless execution of weddings, meetings, and social events. What You’ll Do Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, to meet business needs. Partner with the Director of Sales & Marketing to help ensure compliance with all daily operational procedures within the Sales department. Maintain full knowledge of and compliance with all Shaner Hotels, franchise, and hotel/departmental policies and procedures, ensuring the Sales team is aligned. Actively solicit, book, and detail business for wedding and social group blocks, meetings, and Vista at the Top rooftop events. Be knowledgeable about current customers and accounts, particularly corporate, association, government, sports teams, tour groups, and other key markets. Identify and pursue additional business or market segments to grow revenue. Develop creative packages and programs to boost occupancy during slow periods, supporting them with targeted advertising and promotions. Represent the hotel at trade shows, chamber of commerce events, civic functions, and within local organizations to strengthen community and client relationships. Meet with clients to plan and detail functions, showcase event spaces and guestrooms, and sell catering menus and enhancements. Act as the primary contact for group arrivals and events, ensuring guest satisfaction throughout. Follow up post-event to confirm satisfaction and secure re-bookings. Ensure strong communication with the General Manager, department leaders, and staff to coordinate successful group and event execution. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Develop, solicit, and maintain accounts in assigned market segments to meet or exceed budget goals. Manage all aspects of the Sales department in accordance with hotel standards. Oversee proposals, contracts, and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for meetings, social events, and Vista at the Top functions. Support a proactive, sales-focused culture across the property. Qualifications Minimum 4 years of progressive sales experience, preferably in the hospitality industry. High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, management, and colleagues. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Familiarity with the local economy, competitors, and market conditions. Working knowledge of hotel operations and Sales/Marketing tools. Ability to read and interpret BEOs, safety rules, procedure manuals, and operating instructions. Experience writing reports, correspondence, and presenting to groups of customers or employees. Knowledge of event set-up requirements and coordinating logistics based on BEOs. Strong understanding of local activities and attractions that appeal to group and leisure clientele.
