Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit: At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, we focus on innovative teaching and research, with a mission to prepare the next generation of business leaders, and to recruit diverse, innovative, and exceptional talent. Position Summary

The Center for the Business of Health (CBOH) focuses on bringing together expertise from the UNC community to generate knowledge, prepare business leaders, and catalyze collaborations at the intersection of business and health. Our goal is to translate health research into actionable business and policy recommendations for broader societal impact. The Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, or Research Professor will advance the center’s thought leadership activities and support efforts to translate business of health research into actionable recommendations. This includes producing publications and products important to the center’s external reputation. Responsibilities

The role will spend the majority of time on the following core responsibilities: Producing relevant thought leadership in business of health research; steward scholarship in relevant fields; collaborate with other thought leaders across UNC and beyond. Ensuring ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and high-quality communications related to business of health research. Presenting business of health insights to external audiences and translating and curating academic research for external stakeholders. The remainder of time will be dedicated to: Developing and leading the CBOH external and government relations program to build relationships with healthcare organizations, corporate partners, alumni, foundations, and industry partners. Forging relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable the CBOH, school, and university’s impact. Collaborating with the Advancement team to identify and cultivate donor relationships and philanthropic support for the CBOH. The Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, or Research Professor may also have supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Education and Experience

The position requires a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in business, health policy, or health sciences related fields. Hired candidates with a doctorate can anticipate an initial appointment of Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, or Research Professor, depending on credentials. Candidates must have excellent technical skills in health policy analysis or related fields. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

It is preferred that the successful candidate will possess: At least 5 years of related experience in public-sector or private-sector business with familiarity with business of health convenings and/or research impact on practice and policy. Experience engaging with large audiences, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and managing people and processes. A entrepreneurial, strategic, results-oriented, and empathetic style; ability to cultivate networks and stakeholder relationships; ability to work in an academic environment with collaborative decision-making. Outstanding technical, written, and verbal presentation skills with business, policy, and academic communities. Ability to work across schools and departments and with federal, state, local government leadership and private sector executives. Willingness to travel several times a year to meet key stakeholders.
