70 20 10 Position Summary
A 2-year postdoctoral position focused on wildlife disease management is available in the Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia. The research will focus on the practical application and modelling of sarcoptic mange control in wildlife. The goals are to work with stakeholders engaged in on-ground disease management, advance a modeling framework to align with management in situ, and produce data-informed management guidelines for select host species impacted by sarcoptic mange. The ideal applicant will have an appreciation for on-ground wildlife disease management, with creativity to think innovatively; be willing to gain first-hand experience; and be competent with modeling (cross-disciplinary skills also valued). The project builds on a modelling framework and aims for translational impact across mange host species. The reference includes Carver, S., A. Peters and S. A. Richards (2022). “Model Integrated Disease Management to facilitate effective translatable solutions for wildlife disease issues.” Journal of Applied Ecology 59(12): 2902-2910. Qualifications / Experience
Ideally, the candidate will be proficient with coding (e.g., R), have experience with mathematical and statistical modeling, experience with wildlife (surveying, handling, etc.), and familiarity with wildlife or their pathogens and wildlife management considerations. Physical Demands
