At Houston Methodist, the Supervisor Environmental Services position is responsible for directing the work of staff, overseeing daily operations within assigned areas, managing staffing levels and budget compliance, coaching and counseling employees, and contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. The supervisor may perform staff duties as needed and supports department management to achieve operational goals. Responsibilities
Participates in management responsibilities including selection, scheduling, supervision, retention, and evaluation of department staff; provides development and mentoring; ensures staff are trained and compliant with policies and procedures; supports meeting department turnover goals. Coaches, counsels, and recognizes staff; conducts new hire feedback sessions; fosters collaboration and professional communication across departments; models teamwork and problem-solving to achieve mutual understanding. Oversees daily department operations, prioritizes work, and ensures high-quality service and patient/customer satisfaction. Plans daily team huddles, leads problem-solving efforts, and maintains staffing and budget compliance. Participates in performance improvement activities and provides support for department management to achieve operational goals. Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree or an additional four years of experience required in lieu of degree. Work Experience
Two years Environmental Services hospital experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications
Required: Driver License (State Licensure) and DOT HazMat Certification (renewed every 3 years within 90 days). Preferred: BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork; customer service oriented; able to adapt to a fast-paced environment; proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Webmail); knowledge of housekeeping/building service operations and quality improvement processes; ability to teach others and manage multiple priorities. Supplemental Information
Work Attire: Uniform Yes; Scrubs Yes; Business professional Yes; Other department-approved Yes. On-Call: On-call may be required during emergencies.
