Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Medicine (Aerospace)

The University of Central Florida, College of Medicine (UCF COM), is seeking exceptional candidates for two full-time faculty positions within the Department of Medicine's Aerospace Medicine program, at the assistant, associate, or professor of medicine rank. These positions are available in either the tenure or non-tenure track. Candidates will contribute to the academic missions of education, research, and clinical services. The successful candidates will engage in teaching activities across undergraduate and graduate programs, including the development of new courses, and collaboration with interdisciplinary faculty. They will actively contribute to research endeavors and secure extramural funding to support aerospace medicine initiatives. Responsibilities include: Expanding the aerospace medicine research program, focusing on hypothesis-driven, investigator-initiated, externally funded studies, supported by a robust research team and administrative support. Collaborating on research and technology development with faculty in the College of Optics and Photonics and the College of Engineering and Computer Science, among others. Supporting the development of a new Aerospace and Extreme Environments Medical Systems Integration and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory. Designing and conducting experiments in aerospace and extreme medicine, utilizing UCF resources such as a biobank. Supporting undergraduate and graduate training programs in aerospace medicine and extreme environments. Providing high-quality teaching, including course design, instruction, and student mentoring. Developing new commercial services for space biomedical research with government, industry, and academia. Providing leadership and service to the department, college, university, and broader community. Promoting a culture of innovation and excellence in the Aerospace Medicine Program. Minimum Qualifications: M.D. or Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a related discipline. At least five years of postgraduate experience in aerospace medicine, with a record of interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships. Research record with peer-reviewed publications in aerospace and extreme environments medicine. Substantial funding from NASA, DoD, or related sources. Ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments. Strong communication skills. U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency. To be eligible for tenure upon hire, candidates must demonstrate a record of teaching, research, and service appropriate for a tenured faculty at the rank of associate or full professor. Preferred Qualifications: Dual M.D. and Ph.D. credentials from an accredited institution. Leadership experience in multidisciplinary, collaborative settings. Experience with space agencies like NASA, working with astronauts or spaceflight participants.
