The Department of Agriculture, Plant Industry Division has ONE (1) urgent vacancy located in Lihue. Salary: $3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR-11, Step C to I) Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors. Under general supervision, performs fairly complex sub-professional duties and/or supervises pest control aid in support of higher-level professional pest control activities; and performs other duties as required. Responsibilities may include working overtime, which may include weekends and/or holidays, traveling for work, and working with hazardous chemicals. The incumbent will be required to use microscopes and microtools, manipulate insects, and work outdoors in various conditions. Requirements

Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for ALL levels for which they are qualified. Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. General Experience:

THREE (3) years of progressively responsible work experience which required the ability to read, comprehend and apply written instructions; follow oral directions; and exercise a high degree of verbal skills. Specialized Experience:

TWO (2) years of work experience in insect or plant pest control involving the use of standard laboratory procedures in propagating host insects or plants and the collecting and recording of data. Substitutions Allowed:

Applicants must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and 75 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment. A valid driver's license is required for some positions. Additional Information
