Associate Dean for Faculty, Student, and Staff Success

The College of Education is seeking an Associate Dean for Faculty, Staff, and Student Success. This is a 12-month administrative faculty appointment that provides collaborative leadership to foster a supportive, connected, and thriving academic environment.
Job Duties
Oversee activities related to faculty credentialing, graduate faculty status, promotion and tenure, and post-tenure review. Manage faculty personnel matters and concerns, ensuring alignment with institutional policy and shared governance principles. Lead initiatives for recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and retaining faculty. Provide strategic oversight and guidance for faculty professional development and academic career pathways, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and support structures. Promote fairness, transparency, and collaboration in faculty personnel processes. Address faculty concerns with empathy and care, fostering a positive academic workplace culture. Oversee and support faculty leadership training and recognition efforts. Manage the process for faculty leading student away and abroad opportunities. Staff Affairs
Lead initiatives for recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and retaining staff. Provide strategic oversight and guidance for staff professional development and academic career pathways, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and support structures. Promote fairness, transparency, and collaboration in staff personnel processes. Address staff concerns with empathy and care, contributing to a supportive work environment. Oversee and support staff leadership development and recognition programs. Provide oversight of the COE personnel office inclusive of EHRA and SHRA matters. Student Affairs
Serve as the direct supervisor of the Executive Director of the Academic Success Center. Provide administrative oversight to ensure the Academic Success Center's initiatives align with the College's academic and student success priorities. Support coordination between the Academic Success Center and academic departments, programs, and other student support units. Collaborate with the Executive Director of Academic Success Center and provide support and direction for strategic planning, assessment, and resource alignment to enhance student retention and achievement. Oversee student services within the College, including advising, co-curricular programming, orientation, and academic support initiatives. Address student support needs. Champion student success through programs and services focused on retention, persistence, and holistic development in collaboration with other associate deans. Provide strategic oversight of student recruitment planning and outreach initiatives in collaboration with academic departments and enrollment partners, ensuring alignment with the college's mission, enrollment goals, and community needs. Oversee and provide support to scholarship processes for student access and affordability. Collaborate with enrollment management, marketing, and academic units to develop compelling messaging and outreach strategies. Align recruitment efforts to reflect the needs of local, regional, and global communities. In partnership with academic departments, provide leadership in overseeing the recruitment process to ensure coordinated efforts and a unified, strategic message that reflects the college's mission and values. Oversee student support and engagement initiatives that promote connection, leadership, and academic success. Provide strategic oversight and supervision to the Director of the Education Community of Scholars and Living Learning Community, ensuring program initiatives are aligned with and advance the strategic priorities of the College. Collaborate with student leaders, academic advisors, and campus offices to support student persistence and achievement. Help create a welcoming campus environment where all students feel they belong and can thrive. Champion student success through programs and services focused on retention, persistence, and holistic development. Oversee student away and abroad opportunities with faculty. Provide oversight of graduation ceremonies. Other Duties
Instruct up to two courses annually, with at least one course required each academic year. Assist the Dean in maintaining smooth, efficient, and effective college operations. Develop and sustain connections with community organizations, alumni, and external partners. Support outreach activities that expand access to educational opportunities and community learning. Promote a college culture of collaboration. Encourage and at times create outreach initiatives that align the college's mission with community engagement, including study abroad and lifelong learning with colleagues and faculty. In collaboration with department chairs and other associate and assistant deans, encourage faculty, staff, and students to participate in service-learning activities. Develop and manage budgets for assigned units and functional areas, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Ensure compliance with college and university policies and procedures. Make recommendations for changes in policies or procedures that support overall improvement and quality enhancement. Handle confidential issues and concerns that arise within the college in conjunction with the Dean. Strive for continuous improvement and bring a level of creativity to the role. Work in collaboration with other associate deans where duties overlap. Serve on the Executive Leadership Team. Serve on the College Leadership Team. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean. Minimum Education/Experience
Doctoral degree in education or related field from an accredited institution. Full-time members who are tenured and hold the rank of Professor or Associate Professor in the College of Education. Demonstrated authentic, sustained community engagement within and outside of the College of Education. Demonstrated ability to form relationships with faculty to achieve common goals. Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Demonstrated history of sustained and progressive leadership within the college. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to establish and support a collaborative work environment. Excellent community building skills.
