Overview
STV is seeking an Environmental Geologist to join our Environmental department at our New York City, NY office. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of environmental engineering and consulting experience. Relevant experience includes: Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and Subsurface Investigations. Technical report writing. Assisting with design document preparation. Performing site reconnaissance and inspections. In addition, the candidate should possess a strong technical inclination, be self-motivated to take ownership of challenging problems, and possess excellent written & verbal communication skills. Responsibilities
Perform ASTM-compliant Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and other due diligence efforts. Coordinate and oversee drilling activities, other subsurface investigations, and remedial actions, including classifying soil, and collecting and submitting environmental samples (soil, water, sediment, soil gas, and indoor air) in accordance with state and federal regulations, QA/QC procedures, and established standard operating procedures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to prepare engineering design documents (e.g., vapor mitigation, in-situ remediation, storm water control and potable water purification systems). Assist environmental team with construction-period services (e.g., review of contractor submittals, field reconnaissance and site inspections). Develop emergency response, remedial investigation and work plans to address critical environmental issues (e.g., hazardous material releases, vapor intrusion, potable water contamination). Perform Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP) monitoring. Provide on-site verification and inspection during, or after remedial construction-related activities. Perform site inspections to assess potable water systems including water disinfections and lead testing. Occasional emergency spill response services to oversee and direct cleanups. Communicate and process technical information from partners and vendors for project planning and execution. Assist project managers to prepare, review and modify planning documents, due diligence reports, investigation/assessment reports, feasibility studies, remedial designs, engineering cost estimates, work plans, proposals, and review and adhere to budgets. Experience with NYC and NYS regulations. Proficiency in working with AutoCAD and/or GIS. Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental engineering and consulting experience. Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, geology, or environmental science. A valid driver's license in good standing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational capabilities. Candidate must be both a reliable team player and self-starter. Position requires lifting equipment (up to 50 pounds) and working outdoors in all conditions. Periodic emergency response support / on-call nights and weekend work may be required. Availability to work overtime with some evenings and weekends and occasional travel with limited long-distance travel. Drive for continual learning and to be the best. Preferred Qualifications
Interest in obtaining professional licensure. EIT designation or Geologist-In-Training designation. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification. 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training. Experience with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and Subsurface Investigation. Experience performing construction monitoring and oversight. Experience overseeing drilling activities, sampling activities, remedial actions, and other subsurface investigations, as described above. Operation & maintenance of mechanical systems. Experience drafting with MicroStation. Experience modeling with REVIT. Compensation Range: $60,151.50 - $80,202.00 STV is committed to paying all its employees in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner.
