Overview
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager in Lindenwold, New Jersey. This is a critical leadership role responsible for developing, overseeing, and maintaining all safety and environmental compliance programs, driving risk mitigation, and proactively shaping a high-performance EHS culture within a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will serve as the site's primary subject matter expert, integrating EHS best practices into all operational processes. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager or a senior executive. Key Responsibilities
Environmental Management and Compliance (NEW FOCUS) Regulatory Reporting: Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, NJDEP). Prepare, submit, and maintain required environmental reports (e.g., Tier II, Form R/TRI, air permits, storm water permits, wastewater permits). Waste Management: Manage all hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams (RCRA). Oversee waste minimization, ensure proper storage, labeling, transportation, and disposal, and maintain all waste manifests and documentation. Permitting & Audits: Conduct regular environmental inspections and audits to identify non-compliance risks. Manage and update operating permits (Air, Water, Waste) and act as primary liaison during regulatory inspections. Sustainability: Champion site initiatives for resource conservation (water, energy), pollution prevention, and reducing the facility’s environmental footprint. Occupational Health and Safety Program Oversight: Manage, develop, and continuously review regulatory programs (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA) and plant policies (e.g., LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, Machine Guarding). Hazard Control: Lead hazard identification, conduct safety audits, develop corrective action plans, and track resolutions to completion. MOC Review: Perform proactive EHS reviews for Management of Change (MOC) requests to ensure safe integration of new processes or equipment. Emergency Response: Act as Medical First Responder, coordinate emergency response plan including fire and severe weather preparedness. Claims Management and Training Workers' Compensation: Oversee claims, return-to-work processes, doctor visits, and forecasting to control costs. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations using methodologies (Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys) to determine true causes and implement permanent corrective actions. Training & Culture: Design and deliver EHS training for all employees; partner with plant leadership to foster proactive safety culture and support Joint Health and Safety Committee. Administration and Reporting Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and present weekly and monthly EHS metrics, incident trends, compliance status, and KPIs for executive review. Financial Stewardship: Manage the EHS budget, procurement, and inventory of PPE, safety supplies, and first aid materials. Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Experience: minimum 5 years of dedicated EHS management and leadership in heavy manufacturing, industrial, or production environments. Regulatory Expertise: Practical knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, NFPA standards, and EPA/Workers' Compensation laws. Skills: Hazard recognition, root cause analysis, risk assessment, and implementing control measures (hierarchy of controls). Certifications (Required): Current First Aid, AED, and CPR. Leadership & Communication: Strong ability to influence, coach, and engage employees at all levels. Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, or CHMM is highly desired. Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Work Setting: Office setting with substantial time on the manufacturing floor (up to 70%). Environmental Exposure: Comfortable with cold, heat, high noise, moving parts, heights, and exposure to chemicals and fumes. Physical Demands: Ability to walk, climb, and lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds occasionally. Travel: Minimal travel (0–10 days per year). Job Details
