Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago Position Description Members applying for a half-time term will need to complete 900 hours. Upon completion of the service term, each member will earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award in the amount of $3,697.50. Also, a Living Allowance totaling $11,500.00 will be provided, and the amount will be divided up and paid bi-weekly. This position is preferably for candidates who have recently graduated from high school, are current college students, or are pursuing other post-secondary education endeavors. Normal service hours are Monday through Friday between 1:00pm-9:00pm during afterschool programs and from 9:00am-5:00pm during the summer. Hours occasionally differ due to non-school attendance days for CPS students, and for any club site or BGCC special events. Roles And Responsibilities Assist program staff in facilitation of Project Learn Programs which include but are not limited to: Power Hour, Triple Play (Daily Challenges and Social Recreation), Healthy Habits, STEAM/STEM, I Am A Reader, etc. Ensure that all clubs participate in required AmeriCorps Serve Illinois National Days of Service. Club placement members will take lead in organizing and facilitating all service activities with support from program staff and club leadership. Service projects include Veterans Week, MLK Jr. Day, and National AmeriCorps Week. Attend the annual AmeriCorps Serve Illinois National Service Summit event (TBA). Collect sign-in sheets for assigned daily/weekly programs. Must complete the First Aid/CPR Training when offered. Provide guidance and role modeling to club youth. Help maintain order and discipline of club members. Participate in all required BGCC professional development trainings to expand knowledge and skills. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Working knowledge of youth development; experience with Boys & Girls Clubs preferred Computer competency with working knowledge of computer programs and software Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and the general public Self-starter with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, prioritization, time management and follow-through ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION Must pass criminal background check which includes Livescan fingerprints Physical Requirements/Work Environment Normal internal office environment. Occasional travel to club locations in Chicago. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Seniority level
