Overview
Denison University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Psychology. We seek a broadly trained Psychological Scientist whose work has an applied focus and who has expertise in any of the following areas: child development, health, human factors, human sexuality, or social psychology. The department emphasizes education within the Liberal Arts tradition and close work with undergraduate students. Responsibilities
Teach a range of courses including PSYC 100 (with a significant lab component), Research Methods and Statistics, an intermediate-level elective and concurrent research course in the candidate’s area, and intermediate or advanced electives within the psychology curriculum. Engage in undergraduate mentoring and support students inside and outside the classroom; contribute to the growth of the Department and College; pursue a productive research program with undergraduates. Contribute to a teaching and research environment with negotiable start-up funds, professional development support, and research leaves consistent with pre-tenure review; participate in summer research support for undergraduates and related faculty stipends as available. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field by start date (ABD considered as Instructor until Ph.D. is attained; Ph.D. must be completed within one year of August 2026). Demonstrated ability or strong commitment to teaching excellence and to mentoring undergraduates; evidence of teaching experience and/or commitment to inclusive pedagogy. Evidence of research productivity in psychological science and potential to develop a productive undergraduate research program at Denison; willingness to contribute to departmental and college growth. Ability to teach courses as specified and adapt to the Denison Liberal Arts environment. Application Instructions
