Full Time Regular/Temporary: Job Summary Augusta University's School of Public Health invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to serve as our inaugural Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. We seek a seasoned leader with a strong record of excellence in leadership, teaching, and research to join our new school and position us for success. Key qualifications for this position include: expertise in faculty development, deep understanding of university policies related to evaluation, tenure, promotion, and recruitment and a demonstrated ability to manage and support efforts to recruit and retain high caliber faculty. Appointment will be commensurate with experience. This position is an administrative faculty with rank position and is considered to be on tenure track/tenured. Responsibilities

Administrative - 40% Lead and manage activities to support SPH efforts to recruit and retain high caliber faculty. These activities include: Design and manage professional development programs that enhance faculty skills in teaching, research, and service. Provide mentorship and guidance to faculty members, assisting them with career advancement and promotion.

Scholarship - 40% Research: Building and maintain a program of high impact research as Principal Investigator. Serve as a team scientist on other AU research (as Co-PI). Solicit extramural funding to support research projects. Publish regularly in high impact journals. Present research at regional, national, and international scientific conferences

Teaching - 15% Teach one course per year in your field of expertise. Oversee graduate student theses and capstone projects.

Service - 5% Serve on department, school, and campus committees. Serve on community, state, and national committees and support community events. Conduct peer-review for journals, funding agencies, and professional societies.

Required Qualifications

PhD in a Public Health related discipline.

Leadership experience and experience mentoring and supporting early career faculty.

Track record of peer-reviewed federal funding.

Associate Professor-Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Professor-Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, the candidate (finalist) "at a minimum, is appointed as an associate or full professor, was already tenured at a prior institution, and brings a demonstrably national reputation to the institution: (BOR Policy 8..3.7.4).

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

Evidence of ability as a teacher;

Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and

Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Associate Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
