Overview
The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) at Boise State University invites applications for a full-time nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level beginning August 2026. The priority application deadline is November 1, 2025. We seek an innovative researcher and educator specializing in structural engineering. Responsibilities
Develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program in structural engineering. Contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including existing structural engineering courses and new electives. Engage in service, mentoring, and collaboration within CE, the College of Engineering, and the University. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related field focusing on structural engineering by the appointment date. Ability to obtain PE license in Idaho within three years of hire. Preferred: industry and teaching experience; track record or potential for extramural funding; PE license transferable to Idaho; ability to teach core structural courses; ability to develop new courses. Area of Focus and Initiatives
Interest in areas such as novel hybrid structural design, performance optimization, bridge engineering, climate adaptation and hazard resilience, SHM, BIM, AI/ML in structural engineering, sensor networks, and IoT; potential involvement with interdisciplinary energy-water system resilience and the NSF/I-CREWs project focusing on hydropower systems.
