TekniPlex The Environmental Health Safety (EHS) reports to the Plant Manager and will provide leadership and coaching to promote a Zero Harm Safety culture and create a workplace free of recognized hazards, promote safe work behaviors, and foster an excelling EHS culture across the company.

This is a hands-on role and a key leadership position at the site. In this role you will be responsible for supporting and implementing a standardized EHS program which is consistent with the Tekniplex Global Environmental, Health and Safety Management System. As the Manager, EHS, the scope of responsibility includes Training, Hazard Identification, Regulatory Reporting, and administration of the EHS program. In addition, as the Manager, EHS, you are responsible for continuous improvement of the EHS program and for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities

Work directly with Operations, Human Resources, Quality, and other functional areas to develop the EHS strategy for the site. Ensure implementation and continuing operation of Tekni-Plex Safety Standards and Safety Principles is integrated into plant Safety Policy. Maintain and update all written policies and procedures pertaining to employee, visitor and vendor safety. Plan, develop, and implement effective and practical safety training for new employee orientation and annual required training. Assist in conducting training for employees and contractors regarding applicable EHS programs and procedures. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace through process safety reviews (PSR, job safety analysis (JSA), and risk assessments (RA). Conduct EHS audits, create reports, and collaborate with site functional leaders to drive closure of audit findings. Oversee EHS incident investigations and root cause and corrective action activities. Maintain knowledge of new regulations and standards as they are introduced and/or change within industry. Track, report, and communicate progress regarding EHS initiatives. Perform risk assessment of all incoming new materials and manage/maintain the SDS platform. Manage and coordinate all hazardous/non-hazardous waste disposal programs. Coordinate all regulatory reporting (EPA, DEP, etc.). Define resource requirements to support EHS strategy. Partner with ESG to facilitate ESG improvement Provide facilitation, coaching and direct support to facility employees to identify and address safety hazards/issues at the facility. Work with line management at the facility to ensure that established safety policies, practices, rules, regulations and procedures are followed to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct and document weekly environmental inspections for air, waste and storm-water. Maintain OSHA logs and related compliance documentation, and support the prompt reporting of Worker’s Compensation claims to Human Resources. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s Degree Safety, technical or related field. Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing facility. Working knowledge of and proven experience in OSHA and EPA compliance in a manufacturing setting. Proven experience as an “influence” leader. Proven EHS auditing experience. Motivated and self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Skilled problem solver, specifically related to EHS issues and 3rd party audit findings. Ability to multitask and collaborate with associates at all levels of the organization (up, down and across the organization). Excellent verbal and written communication skills Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required. Works under minimal Supervision, and possesses Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills

Desired

Safety/health professional certifications, such as ASP, CSP, AIH, CIH. Prior experience as a facility safety leader in manufacturing site.
