Under the direction of the EVS Supervisor, performs daily cleaning of patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, corridors, stairwells, elevators, and any other assigned area. Clean in accordance with the standard cleaning and infection control procedures of Sodexho Marriott Services and Bridgeport Hospital.

Responsibilities

Cleaning techniques: After initial training, performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods, including dusting, trash removal, disinfecting surfaces, floor care, wall and window cleaning, and replenishing supplies.

Maintenance & cleanliness: Completes cleaning assignments within established time parameters, measures and dilutes cleaning chemicals as trained, maintains equipment and work stations, assists in cleaning spills, and reports repairs.

Safety: Ensures safety of patients, staff, and visitors by enforcing department safety policies, uses protective devices, reports accidents, demonstrates safe lifting, and follows lock out/tag out procedures.

Additional tasks: Performs any additional assignments as directed by supervisor and attends scheduled meetings/in-services.

Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Special Skills Ability to understand and speak English at a level that allows for safe efficient performance of assigned duties. Must pass all pre-employment screenings as required. After initial training, ability to use supplies, tools and equipment properly without waste. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Successful completion of department orientation.

Physical Demands Standing, walking, and use of hands to handle or feel. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Noise level is usually moderate.
