Overview
PDR-data visualization - PREP Research Associate This position is part of the National Institute of Standards (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. NIST recognizes that its research staff may wish to collaborate with researchers at academic institutions on specific projects of mutual interest, thus requires that such institutions must be the recipient of a PREP award. The PREP program requires staff from a wide range of backgrounds to work on scientific research in many areas. Employees in this position will perform technical work that underpins the scientific research of the collaboration.
Research Title:
Dynamic data visualization for tabular data
The work will entail:
The researcher is responsible in developing a tool to visualize tabular data for datasets published in the NIST public data repository (PDR). Researcher will explore frictionless data standard. Implement this standard for tabular data in PDR. Enhance current metadata standard (NERDm) to support the tabular data as needed. This can be applied to new datasets getting generated and published under specific Critical Emerging Technologies (CETs) program. This dynamic visualization of data will help researcher explore NIST data products in real time, which will enhance user experience of current PDR. Responsibilities
Learn and understand PDR system Understand domain specific data and metadata standards Use and explore AI techniques to support data visualization Enhance the existing PDR system with these additions Regular code updates, deliver code repo along with documentation Attend regular meetings with NIST Qualifications
A Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. 2-3 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with DevOps and CICD pipelines. Familiarity with multiple programming and scripting languages. Ability to develop prototypes of tools. Strong oral and written communication skills. Application Instructions
