Tool Retirement Analyst II Division of Retirement Calculations/Special Operations State of Florida Department of Management Services This position is located in Tallahassee, FL Responsibilities
Analyze and approve the audit, balancing and subsequent calculations of member accounts by professional employees for accuracy. Ensure proper service credit has been given under each retirement system and plan. Verify members\' eligibility to claim retirement credit for additional types of service, that required contributions and interest have been accurately calculated and paid, and that proper documentation for all actions and determinations is contained in the file. Verify audits of transfers of money between and within member accounts due to reporting and other errors in the account. Serve as lead worker for professional employees on problem accounts and oversee their work. Support and assist the section administrator in assigning and monitoring workflow, production reports, etc. Effectively assume responsibilities of the section administrator during the administrator\'s absence (approving leave and monitoring section personnel activities). Participate in employee selection modules, performance reviews and make recommendations to supervisor about work deficiencies, problem areas, and corrective action. Provide customer service requiring expert knowledge of the Florida Retirement System (FRS) and all existing systems, the Florida Statutes, rules, and division policies; serve as a resource for other staff. Compose complex correspondence and memoranda to members and agencies; develop and update procedures for the section administrator. Perform other duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication and basic arithmetic. Ability to review data for accuracy; identify errors and take corrective action; collect, evaluate, analyze and verify data relating to retirement benefits. Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to retirement benefits; train others; organize data into logical format; utilize problem solving techniques; work independently; perform basic arithmetical calculations; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to operate a personal computer with proficiency in Word or comparable processes. Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Flexibility, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork. Minimum Qualifications
Six years of professional experience in the area of insurance, retirement or social security, administration, call center, customer service, fiscal work, statistics, or personnel. The division currently has 225 full-time retirement staff and manages a FY 2024-25 operating budget of $48,864,720. The division administers the Florida Retirement System (FRS) Pension Plan, currently the fourth largest state retirement system in the US with more than 2.7 million active, retired, and terminated vested and non-vested members and $187.2 billion in assets. The division pays out $12.9 billion a year in retiree benefits and maintains the service history, vesting and membership status records, and collects nearly $5.5 billion annually in employer and employee contributions from more than 1,000 employers for all FRS members.
