Summary
The Account Receivable Specialist prepares and processes medical insurance claims and is responsible for resolving any remaining balances for outstanding medical claims. This is achieved through follow-up via phone, website, or written correspondence with both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Efficiency
Reviews medical insurance claims to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
Creates and processes claim submissions for various payers promptly, following payer guidelines.
Reviews accounts receivable daily and follows up on delinquent accounts according to established policies and procedures. Recommends corrective actions as needed.
Analyzes denials and partial payments to identify trends that may require operational or payer-related adjustments.
Quality
Conducts thorough research of claim statuses, documents actions taken, and implements corrective measures to secure payment and improve future submissions.
Responds to inquiries from payors and agencies regarding accounts receivable activity according to policies.
Maintains and develops tracking systems for accounts receivable issues and resolutions for reporting purposes.
Coordinates with service locations to obtain necessary information for clean claim submissions and follow-up documentation.
Strives to exceed productivity and quality metrics as outlined in policies.

Communicates effectively with leadership, teammates, operations, and customers.
Resolves customer requests, inquiries, and concerns promptly.
Works collaboratively in a dynamic environment with professionalism and cooperation.
Problem-solves independently before escalating issues to supervisors or managers.

Adheres to work schedule and attendance expectations.
Performs related duties and completes special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
Formal Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience:
1-year medical billing and collections experience preferred; revenue cycle experience desired. Skills Requirements Ability to learn and navigate various systems, including electronic medical records, clearinghouses, and carrier systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and multitasking ability. Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities effectively. Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office. Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment. Recognizes and addresses roadblocks to reimbursement with management support. Superior customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must meet work schedule and attendance expectations.
