Overview
A growing retail organization based out of Brookhaven is seeking an Assistant Controller who will report directly to the VP of Finance. This opportunity has room for growth and is part of a growing industry sector. This is an onsite position; hybrid schedules will not be considered. Salary
Base pay range: $130,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements. Manage journal entries, invoices, and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing. Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting, etc.). Participate in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices. Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and report variances. Help in the development of reports for management or regulatory bodies. Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances. Utilize accounting IT system (NetSuite) to facilitate processes and maintain records. Coordinate the audit process, liaise with external auditors and manage internal controls. Participate in strategic planning, fraud prevention, and budget development. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. CPA or CMA A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role within the retail sector. In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency in NetSuite or similar accounting software and MS Office, particularly MS Excel. Experience with audits, invoice processing, and budget forecasting. Excellent mathematical skills and an analytical mind. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proven ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used. A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles. Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations. Benefits
