Job Summary Analyzes and manually underwrites commercial loans with a total Synovus Relationship Exposure (TSRE) up to $5MM for bankers across the Synovus footprint. May also perform auto-scoring and underwriting of approved small business loans. Gathers and reviews financial data to determine and support client creditworthiness while minimizing risk exposure. Analyzes business and personal financial statements to determine credit worthiness. Provides structuring guidance and deal recommendations to bankers. Prepares analyses, reports and presentations for management review and regulatory reporting. Ensures all transactions and processing comply with regulatory and company guidelines, policies and procedures. Assists with training new analysts and may be given loan approval authority. Presents alternative solutions to bankers to meet client and company needs. Performs review functions to assist CCC management and approves/declines loan requests within TSRE authority when applicable.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze various types of business and personal financial statements to determine financial positions, calculate debt service coverages, and ensure borrowing needs are appropriate.

Perform quality control reviews of credit packages prepared by junior analysts, ensuring accuracy and appropriate structure. Approve or decline loans up to TSRE limit if authorized.

Apply knowledge of credit and risk management processes to balance company risk with customer relationships.

Spread financial statements and conduct research to assess credit quality, character, and soundness, including analysis of data, industry, management, and guarantors.

Use factual analyses and processes to determine and recommend risk ratings.

Prepare analyses, reports, and presentations for management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations.

Analyze projections clearly, focusing on merits, risks, and mitigants.

Ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and laws, staying informed of legal variations across states.

Offer alternative solutions such as structure changes or additional collateral, and assist with Deal Concept Memos.

Lead team huddles and facilitate as needed.

Be aware of risks within the functional area, report violations, and adhere to policies and laws.

Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience Two years as a Commercial Credit Analyst at Synovus or three years of credit analysis experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of financial accounting theory and methodology.

Ability to use credit/lending systems and databases.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workflow.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
