Overview
Underwriting Specialist, Middle Market Solutions. Base pay range: $100,100.00/yr - $150,800.00/yr. This role may be hybrid in our Boston or Hartford office or work remotely in the New England states plus upstate New York. This is a market-facing role expected to meet with brokers in the territory. Underwrite profitable business Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers Proactively manage capacity Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modeling and interpretation of scenarios for relevant Lines of Business (LoB's) Underwriting approach and compliance Underwrite in line with LoB governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception Utilize global pricing tools Place and bind FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception Policy documentation and administration Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to producers or producer responsibility documentation File maintenance for each risk and transaction handled Support completion of policy administration and credit control processes Contribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for LoB regionally Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Underwriters) Education and Experience
A minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in underwriting profitable business Specialized expert understanding of sub-LoB products and portfolio Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market Specialized understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements Preferably a degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration Professional insurance qualification (e.g. CPCU) is a plus Salary and Benefits
$100,100 - $150,800/year Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account factors including geographic location, scope & responsibilities, qualifications, talent availability & specialization, and business needs. The pay range may be modified in the future.
