Overview
A well-established manufacturer of engineered carbon-based products for hydrogen and energy storage applications is seeking an experienced
Cost Accountant
to join its finance team. This role will work closely with the Vice President of Finance and play a key role in analyzing, planning, and reporting cost information to support pricing strategies, operational efficiency, and overall financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across operations and supply chain teams. Key Responsibilities
Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accuracy of inventory and production data within the ERP system, addressing discrepancies as needed. Analyze inventory and cost transactions, ensuring proper allocation to projects and departments. Perform inventory valuation, reconciliation, and cost variance analysis. Prepare detailed financial analyses and reports, including cost breakdowns, project forecasts, and efficiency improvement opportunities. Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Review and analyze bills of material to ensure accurate product and standard costs; propose updates to standards as needed. Calculate and monitor overhead rates by cost center and adjust based on future budgets. Forecast and record variable costs such as raw materials, labor, and operational expenses. Recommend and implement cost-effective solutions to improve processes and reporting accuracy. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs) and ERP systems (Epicor experience preferred). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
