NO OUT-OF-CLASS EXPERIENCE OR WITHHOLDS ARE ALLOWED FOR THIS EXAMINATION. The LA County Board of Supervisors declared a local state of emergency for homelessness. The County is seeking qualified individuals to help address housing, mental health, and substance use. This emergency opportunity may lead to permanent County employment for those who perform well during the initial period. Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. Before your initial work period ends, you will be assessed on your work performance, with a weighting of 100%. Those who pass the assessment may be considered for permanent appointment as Principal Accounting Systems Technician. ABOUT LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES:

DEFINITION:
Supervises professional accounting systems analysis work in connection with the review, development, and implementation of large scale and complex computerized and non-automated fiscal control systems. CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:
Positions allocate to this class plan and supervise accounting systems analysis projects for major County Departments with large and complex accounting systems. Incumbents must be able to supervise a small, highly specialized staff and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Supervises study and evaluation of existing procedures, fiscal controls, and forms in computerized and non-automated systems. Supervises design of accounting systems and controls; directs staff in working with data processing providers. Supervises evaluation of control systems and review of audit findings, and prepares reports to support exceptions. Supervises review of laws affecting revenue recovery and accounting procedures for health care programs. Confers with administrative personnel on fiscal matters, plans, and findings.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Completion of accounting courses equivalent to 21 semester units or 32 quarter units in an accredited college including courses in cost accounting and auditing. AND One year's professional auditing or accounting experience at the level of Senior Accountant Auditor, Senior Accounting Systems Technician, or Senior Accounting Systems Analyst. Physical Class

Light administrative and clerical work, possible occasional light lifting to 10 pounds, with ambulation. Special Information
