Job Summary
As a Tax Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of financial information for our clients, such as business and individual tax returns, with the benefit of gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in a variety of industries. The Tax Senior Accountant maintains client relationships and oversees the work of internal staff and works closely with internal leaders to ensure high-quality work is conducted and delivered to our clients. Responsibilities
Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, including planning, preparation, and review of various tax returns (individual, corporate, partnership, etc.). Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing tax-related inquiries, providing recommendations, and fostering strong client relationships. Collaborate with partners and managers to ensure seamless client service delivery and alignment with overall firm objectives. Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to develop proactive tax planning strategies for clients, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes. Collaborate with the internal team to provide expert guidance on complex tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other business transactions. Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing questions or concerns. Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, providing insights into their financial situations and potential tax implications. Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal quality control standards. Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions. Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes, ensuring the firm and its clients are compliant with the latest tax requirements. Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices. Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster professional growth and ensure quality of work. Cultivate a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication among team members. Participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends. Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to continuous improvement of the firm\'s tax services. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 3–6 years of relevant experience. Software: CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research. Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in a professional service environment, such as a CPA firm or financial consulting firm. Actively working toward CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or relevant certification, if not already attained. Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement. Other Details
May supervise subordinate team members. Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen; ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs. For job postings in our Albany location, we are required by law to include a good faith salary range for every job, promotion, and transfer opportunity in accordance with the New York Human Rights Law. This range considers many factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, licensure, and certifications. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $75,000 to $105,000.
