Overview
The Piedmont Group in Dunwoody, GA, is actively interviewing and ready to hire an Investment Specialist. This is a full-time role based in Dunwoody, with in-office expectations initially and a transition to a hybrid work model once ramped up and integrated. The Investment Specialist will support one of the firm’s lead advisors in managing and growing a high-value book of business, serving as the advisor’s right hand for investment management, client meetings, and planning execution. Location & Compensation Location: Dunwoody, GA — Initial in-office presence required; hybrid flexibility available once integrated and performing successfully Compensation: Competitive base salary with bonus opportunity; $90,000 - $140,000, commensurate with experience Benefits: Stipend and retirement plan matching are provided Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategies and Model Management
Create, maintain, and monitor a suite of investment models deployable across client portfolios Align investment model construction with firm philosophy, client goals, and tax considerations Evaluate investment offerings to determine best fit for client needs and preferences Coordinate with custodians, platform providers, and third-party investment managers as needed Stay informed on capital markets, investment trends, and third-party strategies available through platforms like Envestnet and Orion Prepare client-ready reports and summaries for record keeping and review meetings Client Facing Planning and Communication
Collaborate with lead advisor to develop, present, and refine comprehensive financial plans for clients Join the lead advisor in client meetings as the investment and planning subject-matter expert Assist with client onboarding and transitions, including account setup and portfolio implementation Conduct regular investment performance reviews and client meetings (in-person and virtual) Explain portfolio strategy, planning assumptions, performance data, and investment rationale to clients Provide proactive client service and respond to client inquiries regarding investment strategy and market conditions Advisor Partnership and Business Growth
Act as an extension of the lead advisor, helping manage financial planning and investment-related responsibilities and follow-ups Track and help report on AUM, new client flows, client goals, investment allocations, and task completion Serve as the operational and strategic planning liaison, ensuring advisor focus remains on client relationships and business growth Qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum of 5 years related work experience Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field CFA, CFP, or other relevant designation is a strong plus Demonstrated knowledge of financial planning concepts, asset allocation, and investment due diligence Prior experience working in or supporting an RIA or wealth management firm Exposure to insurance products (life, disability, long-term care) is a plus Technology Proficiency
Must be fluent—or ready to become fluent—in the following platforms: Wealthbox (CRM) Morningstar Advisor Workstation Envestnet Orion Advisor eMoney Advisor Riskalyze (Nitrogen) Microsoft Excel (advanced skills required) Ability to learn and adopt new tech tools as needed Ideal Candidate Traits
