Summary: Maintain an accounting system that accurately reflects the company's financial position. Collaborate with management and apply professional judgment to supplement accounting policies and procedures. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret complex documents. Deliver effective presentations on complex topics to management, public groups, or boards. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, managing abstract and concrete variables. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Review monthly internal financial statements for compliance with US GAAP. Review SEC filings including 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K reports according to GAAP and SEC standards. Maintain adequate, auditable support for filings. Develop and support internal controls and Section 404 SOX documentation and risk assessments. Review department memos on new and existing accounting standards as they relate to current or proposed transactions. Assist in responding to SEC comments and coordinate with auditors and counsel. Review detailed financial statements for 33 Act filings related to acquisitions and capital raising. During bank acquisitions, review FED & FDIC applications, purchase accounting schedules, and merger expenses. Calculate the Fair Value of stock-based compensation and assist with related disclosures. Review the annual Goodwill Impairment analysis. Assist with information requests from auditors and regulators. Act in the absence of the Controller. Other Requirements: Adhere to banking industry regulations, policies, and procedures; complete compliance training timely. Oversee staff performance, conduct evaluations, and handle disciplinary actions. Recruit, interview, hire, coach, and train employees. Plan, assign, and direct work activities. Apply principles of advanced calculus, algebra, and statistical theory. Research and implement new accounting standards and regulations. Manage multiple projects effectively. Exhibit excellent communication skills. Possess a solid understanding of GAAP, regulations, and strong analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
