Overview
This position is located in the Finance Unit within the Support Services Division in Oklahoma City, OK. Basic Purpose
This job family covers paraprofessional technical work involving the maintenance and reporting of financial accounting data, including maintenance of accounts, ledgers, journals, registers, and other financial records; reconciliation of financial statements and documents; processing transactions for payment of invoices or expense vouchers; maintenance and processing of payroll data; and preparation of routine financial reports. Responsibilities
Cashier duties to include assisting customers, processing payments, preparing daily deposits, etc. Process returns for money related issues for criminal history record checks and SDA applications. Miscellaneous finance duties as assigned. Typical Functions
Maintains accounting records including ledgers, journals, registers, and individual accounts; classifies and codes revenues and expenditures for entry into appropriate accounting records. Reviews and reconciles various financial transactions; examines invoices, expense vouchers and other source documents to verify obligations and post appropriate records. Prepares financial reports, statements and schedules of standard design. Maintains files of source documents and other information related to accounting activities. Qualifications
Education and Experience
One year of clerical, bookkeeping, or technical accounting experience plus one additional year of experience in performing technical accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting six semester hours in accounting or bookkeeping for each six months of required experience; or completion of a vocational training course in accounting for the one year of required clerical, bookkeeping or technical accounting experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
Knowledge of accounting procedures and terminology, and business arithmetic; knowledge of modern office methods and procedures. Ability to use office equipment such as calculators, personal computers or keyboards, and copiers; and to maintain and report financial accounting data. Special Requirements
Successful applicants must be willing to submit to a drug screen, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation (commissioned positions only), and a thorough background investigation. Certain events automatically disqualify an applicant (e.g., felony conviction, undisclosed crimes that would be felonies; failure to pay federal or state income tax; positive drug test; illegal use of controlled substances within specified time frames).
