Job Overview Cortland is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Risk & Insurance team. This role supports the execution of key strategic initiatives, ensures projects are delivered on time, and maintains the health of the risk management department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project management methodologies, excellent communication skills, and experience in risk management or insurance.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within the risk management field in real estate. The candidate should have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a desire to contribute to a proactive risk management program.

Roles You Will Play

Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze data related to incidents, claims, and risk metrics. Prepare reports to support decision-making.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within project management and contribute to best practices.

Insurance Program Support: Assist with policy renewals, claims processing, and certificate management, communicating with brokers and carriers.

Project Planning & Execution: Develop and manage project plans, ensuring adherence to methodologies and best practices.

Risk Management Training: Support development and delivery of training programs.

Policy & Procedure Development: Contribute to risk management policies and procedures.

Research & Industry Best Practices: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging risks, conducting research for improvement opportunities.

Workload Management: Maintain high attention to detail, prioritize tasks, and escalate issues as needed.

Communication & Collaboration: Exhibit strong verbal and written skills, collaborate across teams, and develop relationships.

Additional duties as assigned.

Building Blocks of Success

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of risk management or insurance experience preferred.

Management experience preferred.

Experience in the multifamily industry preferred.

Self-motivated with attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.

Basic understanding of risk principles and insurance claims processes.

Strong customer service skills.

Excellent communication skills.
