Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Role Overview
The Senior Analyst, Finance prepares economic, financial, or statistical research and analysis for use in the development of business strategies and tactics. The role has strong theoretical and practical knowledge of financial and analytical techniques and the ability to plan own work and meet deadlines. The Senior Analyst provides financial analysis for the organization related to Finance and Accounting and oversees all general ledger activity and transactions to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and RPA and/or donor/sponsor policies. Role Accountabilities
Financial Analysis and Reports: Manage feasibility and assessment work for proposed and current projects to contribute to business case development and review. Partner with the Controller on reconciliations and special projects. Conduct complex financial studies and lead research on new accounting guidelines. Review and reconcile general ledger activity and investment accounting. Perform monthly financial analysis of income and balance sheet accounts. Develop and prepare financial, operational, and board reports for internal and external stakeholders. Oversee assigned areas and assist in annual tax returns and financial reports. Financial Modeling: Support budgeting and forecasting through stakeholder discussions, data aggregation, variance analysis, and updates. Partner with IT and Business Intelligence on P&L analyses. Policies and Procedures: Evaluate SOPs within Finance, assess control environment, and provide enhancement recommendations; review system roles and responsibilities quarterly from a Finance perspective. Research: Conduct research using primary data sources and extract information for analysis of key themes and trends. Financial System – Controls, Compliance, and External Reporting: Implement system enhancements for Finance; build financial reports in NetSuite to gain efficiencies. Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial reports and procedures. Participate in development and maintenance of RPA finance policies and procedures manuals. Relationship Management: Act as liaison to outside auditors, tax accountants, and consultants for finance projects. Support the Controller in managing tax and regulatory reporting for RPA and sponsor entities in applicable locales. Support advisors and staff in understanding and using financial reports. Complexity and Problem-solving: Work independently, provide guidance and training, and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations; communicate clearly to express ideas, request actions, and formulate plans or policies. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Significant experience in a similar role with considerable responsibility (5–6 years preferred). Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit-specific accounting procedures. Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel). Travel
Preferred: Within commutable distance to New York, NY; open to fully remote candidates in the United States based on qualifications. Some travel may be required. Mission & Values
