IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a
Multi-Line Surety Underwriting Manager (Contract, Commercial, Subdivision)
in our Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC location. This role will serve as a key member of our underwriting team, handling routine underwriting responsibilities consistent with company policies and procedures. The position involves interfacing with regional office underwriters, home office personnel, agents, and principals. It offers a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday, with remote options on Thursday and Friday. Responsibilities Financial and account analysis of financial data, authority, and referral requirements for new, existing, and renewal business. Requesting and gathering financial information on assigned accounts. Preparing bond renewals and determining whether bonds should be canceled. Maintaining agency relationships and providing exceptional service and support. May have authority to underwrite low-value bonds and renewals. Providing guidance to Bond Underwriting Assistants for bond processing. Recommending on account and agent reports for quality and accuracy. Rating and reviewing bonds for premium and classification accuracy. Ensuring files are complete and all documentation is accurate. Acting as the primary contact and visiting agents to foster relationships. Communicating knowledge of accounts to internal teams via written and verbal means. Prioritizing workflow to meet deadlines. Other duties as required. Qualifications — Must Have: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Business, or related field with at least 7 years of experience in finance surety or equivalent. Alternatively, 11 years of relevant finance experience. Thorough knowledge of the Surety industry and at least 5 years of industry experience. Ability to apply loss development and advanced loss analysis concepts for optimal risk pricing. Creative utilization of coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance to meet company objectives. Authorization to work in the U.S. without future VISA sponsorship. Preferred to Have: AFSB industry designations.
