Responsibilities

Report timely and accurate financial transactions for monthly financial statements through effective management of the general ledger and financial systems integration.

Manage month-end closings, including preparing journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and gift reconciliations; assist the Controller with budgeting, audit schedules, financial reporting, and special projects as assigned.

Account for day-to-day financial activities, including chart of accounts input, journal entry preparation, financial reporting, and Federal and State tax reporting; monitor account activity to ensure accurate recording of revenue and expenses.

Perform general ledger account reconciliations and ensure compliance with the College’s financial policies; prepare monthly and annual reports, schedules, worksheets, and analyses for the annual audit; assist with timely and accurate financial statements.

Assist the Controller with preparation of College reports as required (Form 990, IPEDS, FISAP, DOE reporting, surveys, payroll reporting, etc.).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.

At least three years of accounting or related experience required.

Excellent accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.

Excellent oral and written communication and attention to detail; project management capability; ability to work with all constituencies and independently.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and various accounting software packages; ability to multi-task and exercise independent judgment.
