November 10th, 2023 Summary Within the Retail Branch team at Main Street Bank, our Personal Bankers excel in nurturing customer relationships and recommending products and services. Leveraging product knowledge in every interaction, they identify customer needs and offer tailored financial solutions, ensuring a hassle-free banking experience. The Personal Banker I is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager/Branch Manager or Branch Administrator and manages a wide spectrum of customer service transactions, including teller line operations, while guiding customers to the appropriate departments for non-deposit transactions. The role may extend support to branch and retail initiatives that impact the department and the bank, contributing to the bank's goals in keeping with our sales and service culture. Responsibilities
Asking personalized questions to convert transactions, account maintenance and other routine service requests into cross-sell conversations that deepen client relationships while meeting customer needs. Manage the opening of various deposit accounts, ensuring documentation is complete and properly filed. Demonstrate a proactive approach to cross-selling bank products, making tailored recommendations; address basic inquiries and redirect complex issues to appropriate channels. Handle phone inquiries related to account activity and balances. Maintain and organize the teller workstation, ensuring adequate cash, forms, and essentials for daily operations. Execute diverse customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, cash disbursements, loan and mortgage payments, check processing, money order issuance, and account transfers. Provide a range of customer services such as processing change of address requests, re-pinning debit cards, adding notes to accounts, and assisting with Certificate of Deposit renewals. Uphold meticulous record-keeping and conduct end-of-shift balancing procedures, reporting discrepancies to supervisors. Develop an understanding of bank policies, products, and services; continually update knowledge through seminars and courses. Adhere to bank security procedures concerning cash levels, check cashing, and transaction processing. Adapt to various roles, including operating a Customer Service desk, lobby window, or drive-up services as needed. Maintain a well-organized work area for efficiency and cleanliness. Participate in monthly cash drawer audits and alarm testing as part of the branch operations. Handle customer problems and complaints professionally and promptly, coordinating appropriate follow-up actions. Direct consumer loan requests to the relevant branch personnel with basic knowledge of consumer loan products. Maintain regular attendance and participate in before/after hours and weekend community events as needed. Ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and internal risk controls; attend mandatory training and complete required online courses. Adhere to all company policies and model policy compliance. Occasionally travel locally for bank-related purposes (staff meetings, training, networking, and community/marketing events). Participate in community events outside regular business hours as needed. Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and training requirements. Share responsibility for achieving branch goals and participate in branch activities that generate new business. Represent the financial institution in before/after hours and weekend networking and community service events as needed. Service
Consistently exceed customer service expectations by greeting customers, building rapport, and using customers' names to generate loyalty. Maintain knowledge of the bank’s deposit and loan products and services; counsel customers on product/service selection. Evaluate problems and complaints and resolve them to ensure customer satisfaction. Assist customers with teller transactions and account opening/maintenance. Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent; banking courses and/or related work experience preferred Experience in a financial institution; retail banking experience is a plus Basic product knowledge Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Means and ability to travel to Main Street Bank locations as needed Strong administration and office equipment skills Skills & Competencies
